I visited this restaurant after hearing great things from a few friends, and I’m happy to say it didn’t disappoint! For appetizers, we ordered the morcilla (not my personal favorite, but my partner really enjoyed it) and a beef empanada, which was delicious—though I wish it had a bit more filling. My partner also had the cheese dog and absolutely loved it. We chose to sit outside, and thankfully, the mosquitos weren’t too bad during our visit. For our main dishes, I ordered the mofongo with lechón. I don’t usually go for lechón, but since it’s one of their specialties, I decided to give it a try—and I’m glad I did! It was flavorful and satisfying. My partner ordered a different entrée (I can’t remember the name), but he seemed to really enjoy his meal as well. Overall, he rated the restaurant a solid 7/10, and I’d give it a 6.5/10. The food and atmosphere made for a lovely evening, and I’d definitely come back again! One small note: when we arrived, we waited outside by the sign (attached in my photo), but no one came to greet us. We eventually went inside to let them know we were waiting, and they kindly told us to sit wherever we liked.
Very friendly staff and customers. We tried various typical PR foods & all delicious. We then went to the patio to listen to music which was very entertaining. Worth the travel to try this place. Suggest to get there early to see the cooked pig and get the skin. We were told they were only able to give us what was left was wasn't much but the pork was delicious.
First things first, I'd come back here for the alcapurrias again and again. And again, we ordered the masa and yuca versions, filled with well seasoned meat from top to bottom. Depending on your preference, the masa is fried and soft while the yuca is fried and crispy. Both are delicious in their own way. Followed by the trifongo with lechon and a side of arroz con pigeon peas. The rice was cooked perfectly and seasoned like my mother would make. My dad ordered the skirt steak with white rice and red kidney beans. He ate it quickly, so I didn't get a chance to taste the steak, but he said it was well seasoned and grilled perfectly. But the star for him were the beans, so much he ordered a second side of them. The service was 5 star. Attentive personality for days and just lovely. The restaurant is small on the inside but does have a larger outside with picnic tables. They do play music rather loudly, so going with my elderly parents sitting inside worked better for us, but I could see the appeal of sitting outside with a group. But either way we'll be back.
Thank you! We finally found a place in Florida with delicious Puertorican food that reminds me of back home Chicago! Everything we ordered was so fresh and delicious. Mind you we drove an hr from coral springs to order it and take back home. After an hour drive in an air conditioned car the food was still warm and fresh. Tried the morcilla, monfongo con carne frita, tostones de pana, yuca en mojo and lechon from the whole pig roasted in the pit (Sundays only)! Definitely going back
They expanded! Now there's room to sit with room. The food is delicious, as usual. Im from PR and its very close to mom's cooking. The service was friendly and fast. We went during the week, when its not as busy. There's a place to sit outside as well, with umbrellas. Oh and the music was cool. The whole place has a cool vibe.
Just had an amazing meal at Señor Lechon! The food was absolutely delicious—packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The quality and friendly vibe of the place made it feel like a home away from home. Follow me and check out the full review video @outtoeatreviews5834!
Great food! Everything is fresh. They get super busy on the weekends. Live music and outdoor seating. I door seating area is small, but they are expanding to the storefront next door.
For all puertorricans in the area, this is a great spot. Good location with easy access. Food has great flavor and menu has a nice variety of puertorrican classics. Alcapurrias, empanadas, sorullitos, bacalaitos, pinchos y mucho más! Of course, they have mofongo with your choice of protein. All classic drinks as well. The staff are really nice and accommodating. There's three reasons why I gave 4 stars and not 5. 1) Parking. It is a small plaza and there is not enough parking when there's a good amount of people. You may have to park across the street. 2) Inside seating area. It is a small place and gets full quick, especially weekends. I got there just before the afternoon rush and got a table, but it got busy really fast. There was a group of people that were a bit loud and made the place uncomfortable. If you like outside seating, then there's plenty of tables. It was hot outside when I went so opted for the loud air conditioned inside seating. 3) Greasy food. I understand that many of the items are deep fried and will be greasy, but I had to press the alcapurrias and bacalaito with a napkin to absorb some of the oil. Could not eat the bottom of the mofongo cause it was drenched in oil. Even the arroz con gandules left a puddle of oil on the plate. To me, this was a turndown. If this doesn't bother you, then you'll be fine. Overall, I think they have the ambiance, the flavors, and good service of a true puertorrican restaurant. I'm not sure if I give it a second chance.
